Tonight proved to offer up one of the funniest and most memorable events of Mission History. After church we marched to the bus in a near single file line to load to embark for supper. Our very own Clark was leading the way when to his dismay and our chagrine, he noticed (8 steps down the isle) that he had misfortunately stepped in a rather large and recently deposited pile of dog stuff. We are not sure if it was the smell or the slick shoes that Clark first noticed but within seconds the bus was filled with an ominous stinch that caused a partial evacuation of the bus. During which a couple of others were rewarded with the same ill pleasure for thier clumbsy feet work (John G, Jennifer, and Clark... again).
Upon the mass exodus, the bus driver came to see what went wrong. Janet G with use of ingenious sharades and limited American Portuguese (louder and slower) tried to inform the driver of the problem. . . "Doooooggggggyyyyyyy Poooooooooooo Dooooooogggggyyyyy Pooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!" Before he could begin his inspection he had aquired his own mass of brown mess. As the sound of laughter billowed from in front of and around our bus some of the Brazilians wanted to know what was the cause of such hilarity. The next 30 seconds seemed to have happened in slow motion as the following pursued.
The bus driver began to help Clark clean his shoe, as he bent over to help wash Clarks loafer either the overwhelming stinch or the sight of the nastisity that now spread about 8 feet in diameter caused one said driver to puke right outside our entrance. Then as one of the pastors of the church came to check on us we tried to warn him. As one foot squarly centered the only remaing pile that had not yet been disturbed John G tried to stop him. But in his efforts to slow himself down the pastor stepped backward into the orginal pile now obtaining substantial amounts on both feet. John nearly fell face forward into the whole ordeal as he stuggled to not fall over laughing. Clark, Cory, and I tried to contain our laughter by walking the other direction up the street. Alan, Drew, Daniel, Mike, and Jill were afraid to exit in the likely event they would also stain their shoes.
After 30 minutes, two towels, a bottle of some green cleaner, and 6 shoes we were ready once again to head for supper. However the laughs have lasted for nearly 3 hours. Everytime I think about Clark's look of disbelief and everyone elses uncontrolable laughter I have to pause to smile myself.
