We are here...

After 26 hours of travel (four flight delays and poor Alan in trouble for over an hour with Brazilian customs) we are here! We are at our hotel in Rio Preto getting refreshed a little and are already about to leave for a church service with the medical team in Nova Granada. We get to eat pizza after that - then sleep! We had a great welcome at the airport here from Paul and our old friends.

The medical team is reporting an awesome few days. As you already heard here, they helped about 20 or so the first day. Well, it was over 40 yesterday, and over a hundred today (and today was the short day)! They will be giving some testimonies during tonight´s service.

When we get our wireless up here, Drew and I will dump a good handful of pictures on here from these last few days and give much more details.

From Paul Saturday morning:
It is a little rainy looking today. We have plans to do clinic this morning, then rest and shop this afternoon as we wait for the other team. Then we have a service tonight in Nova Granada. Tomorrow we will have service in the morning and then rest in the afternoon and have a big service here in Rio Preto in the evening.

Pray that my Portuguese continues to get better and better. The mere fact that I try is opening more and more doors. Last night we ran by the church's choir practice after supper and I spoke to the choir in Portuguese and I think they understood. At least they smiled and laughed at the right time and said amen at the right time. ha ha

From Paul this afternoon:
We are having a good day here. The clinic is very busy this morning and we even had one emergency where a man had gone into near insulin shock.

Since I am out of my element there I decided to take a walk and found an internet cafe (yes... in this little town). It costs less than $1 for me to use this internet for an hour. Don't think it would be quite that cheap in the states. Even while I am here I have been talking to people. It is amazing the doors that open when they find out you are American. But it is not hard for them because I stick out like a sore thumb. ha ha

Nancy Goodwin Evans, Joanie Goodwin's daughter and her husband will be leading a mission team to Sao Paulo later this summer. Terri Smith's son, Wade, is taking a team from his church in south Arkansas even as we speak. God is really moving U.S. Christians to preach the Word in Brazil. I will be praying for you all.
